Autumn this year will see the JPR team back in their wellies and heading south to start work on some peatland restoration projects in Somerset and Dorset. The team will be equipped with specialist widetrack excavators, designed for working on soft ground. The focus will be ‘re-wetting’, by blocking ditches, deep trench bunding and managing water flows throughout the site.

Peat is a vital resource for carbon sequestration, and offers a diverse habitat for wildlife. The re-wetting works will promote the growth of sphagnum moss, which over time and through the build-up of partially decomposed plant remains, will create new peat.
Working with the Somerset Wildlife Trust and the National Trust in Purbeck, JPR will be continuing vital work on these sensitive habitats and we will supply updates of these projects as time progresses.
