This month, JPR’s team has completed work on a reed bed construction – the Dakota project; a name with some historical relevance…

The reed bed is located at Lambourn, near Hungerford, the site of the former RAF Membury base that was home to the USAAF 64th Troop Carrier Group. Soon after it was commissioned, DC3 Dakotas began arriving to support the Allied operations in North Africa.
But back to the present day, this Dakota project saw our teams construct a new horizontal flow reed bed system for the tertiary treatment of wastewater. The bed was planted with native reeds which will thrive in the wet conditions, acting as a natural filter and the final part in the process of cleaning the wastewater before it is discharged.
The entire project, from design to construction and completion, was handled in-house by JPR, demonstrating the unique range of skills and expertise that make us the specialist ecological contractors that we have become. We have continued to build our expertise to be able to offer comprehensive services to clients, and this is the latest example of a cohesive project, delivered start to finish, by our own teams.
